The organization will support several children’s charities around the world

Lady Antebellum hosted an invitation-only press conference today (Monday) at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center to announce their new charity initiative, LadyAID. The organization will support several children’s charities around the world, including the Monroe Carell Junior Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Children’s Miracle Network, myLIFEspeaks and the UN Refugee Acency.
Charles Kelley said, “We’ve always wanted to get involved and I think we’ve had so many different things. There’s so many charities out there in the world, and I think to finally feel like we’re all collectively have one goal and we know that we can hopefully make a difference. It feels pretty good because we’ve been talking about this for a couple years now.”
LadyAID will be funded by online donations, as well as several fundraisers. The first benefit, the Ping Pong and Songs event, is scheduled for early 2013. It's inspired by the band’s favorite backstage activity and their love of songwriting.
Lady Antebellum said, “There’s a lot of different, again, charity events. And we thought about something fun and different and hopefully it won’t be too competitive. If you’re no good a ping pong, that’s ok. It’s more about the hang. [Hillary Scott] That’s not true. They’re going to be really competitive. [Dave Haywood] We do have shirts already made, right? [Charles] Yes! Dave and I call ourselves the Dynasty.”
Lady A headline the Schermerhorn tonight (Monday) for the On This Winter’s Night holiday concert. Their first live DVD, Own the Night World Tour, hits stores tomorrow (Tuesday).
