Double Dare is BACK! 90s Nickelodeon kids REJOICE!

Nickelodeon announced yesterday that they are reviving one the best shows from my childhood! "Double Dare" IS BACK! I always wanted to be one of the kids answering trivia questions, or opting to do messy "physical challenges."

"Double Dare" was hosted by Marc Summers, and it originally ran from 1986 to 1993.  There were a few spin-offs, "Super Sloppy Double Dare" and "Family Double Dare", and it was briefly brought back for one season in 2000 but nothing really stuck as well as the original. Nickelodeon has ordered 40 new episodes, which will begin airing this summer, but there's no word on a specific date or a host yet.

Fun fact for you...when I was little I would record episodes of this (and "Wild and Crazy Kids") on VHS. Not only did I want to visit Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios, Orlando, but I wanted to meet someone on the show...HARVEY. Most kids want to be a star, or the host. Me? I wanted to be the announcer. I had no idea at the time that Harvey was a very seasoned and well-respected radio host. I just loved that he got to tell everyone about the show for the day and what prizes they could win! Judge me if you want, I know it's odd...but I guess I lived my Harvey dream :)

Harvey kicks it at the 1:30 minute mark below :)

Also - if you're a fan, you'll like this little video (below) Harvey made about Marc! You can tell they are actually buddies, and that makes the 8 year old Johnna who loved them dearly smile.
